Upgrades To Security System Coming To Western Financial Place Starting December 3, 2024

December 2, 2024

Cranbrook, BC (December 2, 2024) – Upgrades to the antiquated security system at Western Financial Place are set to be made over a couple of days this week – Tuesday, December 3 and Thursday, December 4, 2024.

The new access system will be phased in to various areas within Western Financial Place and will also include compatible security cameras. New walking access cards will also be personalized to each individual user. It is also important to remind that all walking users must sign a waiver and obtain their own personal walking access card.

Walkers will need to stop by the pool service desk to get a new walking card. These cards will be pre- activated and will be assigned to the individual in the system. Everyone that currently has a walking pass will be grandfathered into the new system for one year. After that time, the walking passes will become an annual fee to utilize the concourse. The yearly membership to access the walking concourse will be $10.00.

If you don’t currently have a walking pass and would like to purchase a walking pass the cost will be $10.00. If you lose your card there will be a replacement fee to activate a new card.

“With security and safety at the center of our operations, the new system will be key to our safety strategy as well as our proactive loss prevention strategy. It will allow for ease of management, seamless integrations and to conduct observations in a more scalable way,” says Trevor Thors, Director of Recreation and Culture.

There will be a transition period in getting the system set up and there may be a delay in getting your new walking card. There may also be some minor disruptions to access to the concourse during the installation period.

We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this may cause in the short term as we move to the new access system.
